Description

Network domain security is a set of security features that allows network nodes to exchange information securely. These features are important for communication between different networks, but can also be used for communication between different nodes in the same network.

Different security mechanisms are available for different types of network:

  • Messages in the core network can be protected by MAP application layer security.
  • Messages in an SS7-based core network can be protected by TCAP transport layer security.
  • Messages in an IP-based network can be protected by IP network layer security.
