Intellectual Property Consultancy

A key part of our business is the provision of expert consulting services in the field of intellectual property. Aspects covered include technical support to patent attorneys, analysis of essentiality and alleged infringement, identification of prior art, claim construction analysis, and technical review of arguments presented in expert witness reports and declarations.

Our work is focussed on the 3GPP systems for 5G, 4G and 3G mobile telecommunications. It is built on a comprehensive knowledge of the underlying specifications, and spans the following areas:

  • The system architecture, including the radio access network, core network and IP multimedia subsystem
  • The air interfaces of OFDMA and WCDMA
  • The 3GPP and IETF signalling protocols
  • The end-to-end operation of the system, including the procedures for registration, mobility management, session management and security

We are free from any conflicts of interest with network operators and equipment manufacturers. To help maintain that position, the main part of our work is in support of defences against non-practising entities.
